On August 10, 1901, Charlotte Anne Moberly and Eleanor Frances Jourdain wandered off the direct route to the Petit Trianon at Versailles. In later accounts, both described an oppressive change in the gardens: still air, flat-looking scenery, unfamiliar paths, and figures whose clothing seemed to belong to another era.
They encountered two men near gardening equipment, a woman and child beside a cottage-like building, a disturbing seated man near a garden structure, and a guide who redirected them toward the Petit Trianon. Near the château, Moberly alone recalled seeing a woman seated and sketching. She did not identify the figure at the time, but years later became convinced that the woman resembled Marie Antoinette.
Their investigation grew over a decade of return visits, historical research, disputed map correspondences, and changing written accounts. In 1911, they published An Adventure under the pseudonyms Elizabeth Morison and Frances Lamont, creating one of the most enduring cases of alleged retrocognition.
Was this an encounter with eighteenth-century Versailles, an unusual perception in an unfamiliar landscape, or a memory reshaped by later research?

In the summer of 1518, Strasbourg faced an emergency unlike any ordinary epidemic. Residents began dancing in public for prolonged periods, apparently unable to stop despite exhaustion, pain, hunger, and collapse. The outbreak lasted for weeks, drew an official response from the city council, and became linked in local belief to the punishment of Saint Vitus.
The best-known account begins with a woman remembered as Frau Troffea, though the details of her first day come through chronicles and later reconstructions rather than a surviving eyewitness record written in the street. What is more firmly established is that Strasbourg authorities treated the dancing as a serious civic crisis. Physicians were consulted. Spaces for dancing were arranged. Musicians were hired. When that approach appeared to worsen the disturbance, the city restricted public dancing and music. Sufferers were reportedly taken to a shrine associated with Saint Vitus.
Later accounts claimed that hundreds participated and that dancers died at alarming rates. The surviving evidence supports severe distress and official intervention, but not a precise number of dancers or deaths. Modern explanations include ergot poisoning from contaminated rye, religious trance, social contagion, and mass psychogenic illness shaped by famine, disease, fear, and cultural expectations. Five centuries later, the central question remains: what could make a group of people appear to lose control of their bodies together—and why did that distress take the form of dance?

On November twenty-second, nineteen eighty-seven, two Chicago television stations were interrupted by an unidentified pirate broadcast. First, during WGN-TV’s Nine O’Clock News, sports anchor Dan Roan vanished from the screen and a rubber-masked figure resembling Max Headroom appeared against a crude moving metal background. WGN engineers restored control within seconds. About two hours later, during WTTW’s airing of the Doctor Who serial “Horror of Fang Rock,” the same figure returned for roughly ninety seconds. This time the broadcast included distorted speech, references to WGN, Coca-Cola, Chuck Swirsky, Clutch Cargo, improvised props, and a second visible participant with a flyswatter.
The strongest technical explanation is that the intruders overpowered microwave studio-to-transmitter links, forcing legitimate television transmitters to rebroadcast a prerecorded pirate tape. That would have required specialized knowledge of frequencies, antennas, line of sight, video signals, timing, and portable transmission equipment. The Federal Communications Commission investigated, but no suspect was publicly identified or charged.
This episode reconstructs the two attacks, the analog broadcast weakness that made them possible, the clues inside the footage, and the major suspect theories: disgruntled broadcast insiders, students, amateur-radio operators, underground media figures, personal grievance, technical challenge, and later internet claims. The unresolved question remains narrow but powerful: who had the knowledge, equipment, access, and nerve to take over live Chicago television twice, then vanish without proof?

The Taured traveler legend begins, in its famous retelling, at a Tokyo airport, where a well-dressed man supposedly presented a passport from Taured, a country no map recognized. In that version, he pointed to Andorra as his homeland, insisted Taured had existed for centuries, was held under guard, and vanished overnight along with his documents. But the strongest traceable evidence leads to a different case: John Allen Kuchar Zegrus, a multilingual traveler investigated in Japan around 1959 and 1960 for illegal entry, a false passport, and financial fraud. The July 29, 1960 House of Commons reference, an August 1960 Canadian newspaper account, and a December 1961 Japanese broadcast summary describe a passport from a nonexistent state connected not with Andorra, but with Tamanrasset and North Africa. Later paranormal books and internet retellings appear to have reshaped a strange fraud case into a parallel-universe mystery. This episode follows the passport, the shifting geography, the missing hotel-room evidence, the omitted Korean wife, the court sentence, and the unresolved question that remains after the legendary disappearance is stripped away: if Zegrus was not a visitor from another Earth, who was he really?

On June thirtieth, nineteen hundred eight, a brilliant object crossed the morning sky above central Siberia and exploded near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River. Witnesses described heat, flashes, thunder-like detonations, violent wind, broken windows, shaking ground, and forest damage on an enormous scale. When Russian mineralogist Leonid Kulik finally reached the main devastation zone in nineteen twenty-seven, he found trees thrown outward across roughly two thousand square kilometers, upright stripped trunks near the center, and no large crater or intact meteorite. The leading scientific explanation is a cosmic airburst: a small asteroid, comet fragment, or weaker mixed body entering Earth’s atmosphere at high speed and releasing most of its energy several kilometers above the ground. But key details remain unresolved, including the object’s composition, size, speed, trajectory, breakup altitude, and whether any fragments survived. This episode follows the eyewitness reports, the delayed expeditions, the famous but uncertain eighty-million-tree estimate, the missing crater, microscopic evidence claims, the disputed Lake Cheko hypothesis, and comparisons with the twenty thirteen Chelyabinsk airburst. It also examines why Tesla, antimatter, black-hole, nuclear, and alien-spacecraft theories persist despite limited evidence. Tunguska may be broadly understood as a natural impact disaster, but the vanished object still has no confirmed identity.

On November seventeenth, nineteen eighty-six, Japan Air Lines cargo Flight sixteen twenty-eight crossed Alaska on the Reykjavík-to-Anchorage leg of a Paris-to-Tokyo route. At about thirty-five thousand feet, Captain Kenju Terauchi, First Officer Takanori Tamefuji, and Flight Engineer Yoshio Tsukuda reported unusual lights near their Boeing seven forty-seven freighter. Anchorage air traffic controllers found no known aircraft that matched the crew’s report, yet during the encounter, civilian and military personnel discussed intermittent radar indications near the flight. Terauchi also reported a target on the aircraft’s onboard weather radar, equipment not designed to identify aircraft and subject to weather, reflections, and interpretation limits. The case became one of the most debated aviation encounters of the nineteen eighties because it combined trained witnesses, real-time controller response, recorded communications, later official review, and unresolved radar ambiguity. Some investigators argue that the crew encountered an unidentified physical object. Others point to planets such as Jupiter and Mars, ice crystals, atmospheric optics, radar clutter, duplicate returns, and the difficulty of judging size and distance at night. Two other aircraft were asked to look, but neither confirmed the object. The mystery remains centered on a narrow question: was Flight sixteen twenty-eight accompanied by something physical, or did several ordinary effects combine into an extraordinary report?
